    Not even remotely.

The SSC Aero is the fastest American car.

Followed by the Saleen S7, then the Evans 387, then the Ford GT, the Corvette Z06….and after all those, the Viper finally appears in the list.

Which would run faster? Who cares? Top speed is one of the most pointless arguing points of a car. 99.9% of the time, they will not be at that speed, so it's worthless to decide anything about the two based on that.

Lamborghini isn't an American sports car. I'm not sure if the Viper anymore. The new Corvette ZR1 is supposed to be insanely fast. Probably not as fast as either of those, the new 2010 Shelby Mustang is supposed to be the fastest production mustang ever made. It looks pretty sick.

Actually the most fast of the lightweights is the Corvette with a top speed of 210mph Viper is only 195mph. Fastest heavyweight is the SSC aero.

The fastest american car ever is a Plymouth Barracuda running at 352+ last year at bonneville salt flats, as a V-8 record. it had to be puched to 75 mph first though, as all those cars do. not a daily driver
