The 2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV breaks the law.
Actually the GT-R has been breaking the law since last year. Before then, the Japanese car industry kept its high-performance cars below a ceiling of 280 horsepower, an unwritten, yet very real limit established by the Japanese government back in 1989.
But the Nissan GT-R shattered the glass ceiling with its 480-hp twin-turbo V6. And now the 2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV pushes even her past the barrier, further reinforcing the GT-R’s status as a true supercar. Just over a year since the car’s introduction, Nissan has given a shot of steroids to Godzilla, creating the most extreme road-going machine that Japan has ever seen.
And we’ve got the test numbers to prove it.

If the engine is the soul of every car, then the 2007 Audi RS 4 has more character under its hood than most performance cars possess from tip to tailpipe. With 4.2 liters of direct-injected aluminum fury, its V8 makes 420 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, and revs to an unbelievable 8,250 rpm.
Now that’s some soul. And it’s all forward of the front axle….

Caught weeks ago in the cold of the Arctic Circle, the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is now undergoing high-speed tests on the Nürburgring test track in Germany. And like the previous prototypes, this Rapide test mule has only minimal camouflage.
The lack of a cover reveals an interesting new design twist — a roof that’s nearly all glass. There are a few pieces of equipment attached to this particular prototype, but it’s a relatively unobstructed design otherwise. A few other luxury sedans have similar setups, so this appears to be an emerging trend in the segment.
Like the current range of Aston Martin coupes, the Rapide sedan sounds as good as it looks. Not a surprise really, as the Rapide will use essentially the same 5,935cc V12 as the DB9. Output is expected to jump significantly, though, so expect to see the final number approaching 500 horsepower. The corporate ZF-built six-speed automatic transmission is the likely gearbox and it will send the power to the rear wheels.
Production of the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is expected to start in Graz, Austria, in late 2009. Supplier Magna Steyr will build up to 2,000 Rapides a year under contract with aston martin.

What’s a Fast and Furious movie without some obvious product placement? And in Fast & Furious, the most obvious product placement is Subaru’s WRX STI.
The Subie got its role in F&F when the picture car coordinator went looking for a new, high-performance, rally-type car for FBI agent Brian O’Connor (super-dreamy Paul Walker) to drive near the film’s climax. Basically it was a choice between the Mitsubishi Evo X and the WRX STI, and Subaru was the first one to say it would supply cars. So Subaru it was.
Subaru gave a total of seven brand-new WRX STI models to the production in exchange for prominent placement in the film. But just because they were zero-mile cars doesn’t mean that they were treated with any respect by the picture car department. After all, what matters in movie-making is getting the movie made, not making sure any Subaru survives unscratched.
So all the Subies had their interiors stripped, all were fitted with straightforward tuner-style modifications from Perrin, Cobb Tuning and Veilside, and then they were sent out to work on the set. Of the seven, one was cut up into an engine-less filming buck and five were destroyed during filming. The remaining car is in a warehouse awaiting another shot at fame.

If we thought for a moment that our superiors would allow it, our review of the absurdly powerful 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG would consist only of these four words:
Whoa…’gain, ‘gain, ‘gain!
So elemental is the appeal of this, this engine with a car attached to it, that even the year-and-a-half-old child riding in the backseat feels it. As we got into the throttle and the CLS surged forward in a series of bursts through the city streets, it was she who uttered those four words, again and again and again.
